Michelle Maciel, Psy.D.
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Maciel is a clinical psychologist, licensed in Washington and California and PSYPACT authorized for practice in most states. She received her Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Psychology, San Diego, an APA-accredited program. She has diverse experience as a psychological evaluator and a treating psychologist in psychiatric inpatient and private practice. She specializes in psychological testing and psychodynamic (analytic) technique, with additional expertise in addiction recovery, Christian integration, and men’s psychology. She practices with clinical acumen and therapeutic hope, aiming for problem solving, character strengthening, and resilience building. With a holistic and interdisciplinary view of psychological treatment, she collaborates with like-minded practitioners to deliver whole person care to her patients.
Dr. Maciel was inspired to establish a beachhead psychology practice that prioritizes the traditional doctor-patient relationship with confidentiality, discretion, and flexibility, and one where Christians are served. She witnessed how the shocking cultural changes of recent history had a profound way of making people of courageous faith, authentic followers of Jesus (Galations 5:1). Before His final Passover feast, Jesus said: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” It became clear that psychological care for these overcomers must offer more than what managed-care counseling or pharmaceutical intervention can produce, and so she answered the call of a genuine demand for psychological service to “The Branches.”
